Plain Action has a specific geographic area of operation and funds activities within that area.  The area has been approved within the criteria of ‘Local Action’ and the RDPE  as one which is essentially rural with no major settlements and with defining features.  In this case the defining features are the combination of the almost unique military influence over such a wide area, and the extensive chalk grassland, one of the largest in northern Europe.

The Programme area is bounded on the north east by the North Wessex Downs AONB, and on the south east by the Cranborne Chase AONB, both also Local Action Groups.  The remainder of the boundary is along parish boundaries.
