LATEST NEWS - PLAIN ACTION FUNDING - 8th December 2011
In July 2011 Defra informed the Plain Action Management Group that the funding for the programme was to be reduced from £2.5m to £1.928m, a reduction of 22.88%.
All funds have now been allocated to projects. 42 projects across the Plain action area will benefit from help with funding. Please do look at the “Activities and Projects” page to see all the projects we have helped.
Fleur de Rhe-Philipe, Chairman of the Plain Action Management Group says, “It is disappointing to lose this funding when we had enough projects to spend the original amount and with it the associated benefit the community would have gained.”

Plain Action has two main streams of funding for those wishing to contribute to delivering its objectives.
The two streams are through:
- Small grants up to £10,000
- Main grants, £10,000 to £40,000, and £40,000+
Grants are made at a maximum rate of 75% of activity/project cost depending on the nature and purpose of the grant, and status of the applicant.
All applicants receive considerable support throughout the application process, and every effort is made to avoid unnecessary work. The Programme needs successful applications in order to achieve its objectives.
As a very first step all applicants should read all of the main pages on this website so that they are familiar with the Programme and how it runs.
Prospective main grant applicants particularly should consider the list of indicative activities and projects. Once familiar with the Programme potential applicants should contact us to outline their proposals and to get some indication of whether these might be suitable for funding.
Our processes and procedures are set out in full in our Operating Manual and its appendices, the majority of which are on this website.
We are committed to making the application process as easy and open as it can be, and are happy to spend time meeting potential applicants and discussing their proposals. We view the application process as a joint exercise – for this reason it is not intended that applicants download forms and send them in ‘blind.’
The final message to applicants for main grants is: consider how you can help the Programme meet its objectives with your local knowledge and resources.
